\\ I recently went out on a photo safari with the OU camera club, where our sole aim was to create images in the square format, either by capturing using a camera with a native square format, or by post-processing. I opted for my digital compact for portability, with processing in Elements and PicMonkey.

\\ First up is a triptych of found graffiti on the walls of the nearby underpasses (above). Some people find graffiti offensive, but I think it makes for an interesting addition to otherwise bland concrete facings. All three of these images were originally in colour, but I felt they worked well in B&W with extra noise and grain added for a gritty effect.

\\ The next three images were taken later on the walk. The cow was captured over a gateway where it was taking shelter from the sporadic rain showers. A simple conversion to B&W with a gentle vignette added to draw attention to the cows stare. The two images of trees/river were captured using an IR filter over the camera lens, with a slow shutter speed due to only capturing IR wavelength light. For "IR trees" I used an ISO of 1600 and added a fair amount of grain and boosted the highlights, aided by the beam of sunlight reflecting off the leaves at the moment of capture. "IR trees & river" is a more straightforward image in terms of processing, and shutter speed was a lot slower too because I used a lower ISO (400) to reduce noise/grain.
